From a Bare Grey Shell to a High‑End Salon Experience


When Salon MM set its sights on expanding from a two‑chair studio into a full‑scale, eight‑chair designer salon in the Palencia development of St. Augustine, the space waiting for them was nothing more than a raw grey shell. No concrete slab. No RTU. No electrical service. Just potential . . . and a business owner ready to grow.


Marvel Construction Group was brought in to transform the 1,400‑square‑foot space into a polished, high‑performance salon redesign in St. Augustine that matched the owner’s vision for elevated service and elevated design.

Building While the Vision Evolved


One of the defining challenges of this project was that the owner continued refining and upgrading his design selections throughout construction. Finishes shifted. Fixtures changed. Materials were upgraded. Instead of slowing the project down, Marvel adapted in real time, coordinating new selections, adjusting scopes, and keeping the schedule moving.


This flexibility became a core part of the project’s success.

Coordinating With Third‑Party Installers


In addition to Marvel’s scope, the owner hired a separate handyman to install specialty equipment purchased with installation included. Rather than letting this complicate the workflow, Marvel integrated the third‑party installer into the construction sequence. This meant coordinating timing, access, and inspections to keep the project aligned.


This level of coordination is often overlooked in commercial build‑outs, but it’s where projects can gain or lose weeks. Marvel kept the process smooth, collaborative, and predictable.


A 12‑Week Transformation


Despite evolving design decisions and the added complexity of third‑party coordination, the project reached completion in approximately 12 weeks, delivering a clean, modern, high‑end salon ready for customers.


The finished space reflects the owner’s vision: warm textures, designer lighting, curated product displays, and a layout built for both workflow and customer experience. It’s a salon that feels intentional, elevated, and unmistakably custom.
